Aldersgate Ward
Diana Page - Your Labour Candidate I was born in Islington and brought up in central London; I have always been passionate about London and worked to transfer this enthusiasm to my students during the many years that I spent teaching in London secondary schools. I worked directly with businesses in the City to provide valuable and effective work experience programmes.
After taking early retirement from teaching, I ran my own educational consultancy business, advising schools and local authorities on improving pupils’ behaviour and attainment. For seven years, I was Chief Executive of an Islington-based voluntary organisation, working with young people who were not succeeding in school. Among those who contributed to our funds were City firms and charities. We also worked closely with the LSO and the Barbican Schools Film Festival.
As Labour Party Agent in the 1997 General Election, I ensured that the Cities of London and Westminster Labour Party gave full and public support to the Save Bart’s Campaign and briefed leading Labour politicians. One of the first acts of the incoming Labour Government was to save what could still be saved of Bart’s Hospital.
I have lived in the Barbican for five years and am now seeking your vote to represent Aldersgate Ward. If elected, I look forward to working with your other representatives as part of a strong Aldersgate team.
